OK. I promise to not use this photo to embarrass Carol any more this year. I reserve the right to use it later.

Today's chores included cleaning stalls, feeding llamas, feeding the guard dogs and scooping poop. This is the routine for the next several months. Saturday morning, our mentoring workampers head West for Branson, MO. We have enjoyed the short week with them.

Today Pam, our boss led us through the tasks we are to do when handling the llamas. We will get photo of our work posted later. After scooping the pastures, we dumped the poop and then headed back to our home. I took a short break enjoying a cup of coffee while looking out at our work station. The work is easy but physically demanding at times. The joy comes from watching the llamas in their pastures.

Around noon, Carol and I headed to Zaxby's in town for a quick bite. Zaxby's is a chicken strip/wings place. Food and service was pretty good. Then we headed to Canton, GA. That is where we found the closest Michael's store. Carol has always wanted to learn how to do water color painting so we drove down to pick up some basic supplies.

It was a beautiful day for a drive. While in Ellijay, we found a Texas place. This will go on our list of places to tryout. We need to make sure they are representing the state of Texas proudly and correctly.

Driving to Canton, we changed elevation from 1726 feet to 968 feet. The entire 52 miles was down hill. Of course coming back to Blue Ridge, we climbed the entire trip. All I can say is this is some pretty country. Nothing is flat and roads are not straight.

We got back just in time to make it to the dinner provided by our host, Jerry and Pam. Dennis and Mattie, departing workampers along with Pam and Carol where the honored guests.

This porch is on the ground level with the front of Pam and Jerry's house but is also on the second floor at the back of the house. If you could see beyond Carol, you would see the roof of our RV. After a wonder meal of smoked pork roast, with trimmings, Pam brought out a wonderful chocolate cake for all to enjoy. Of course a birthday party wold not be the same without singing Happy Birthday to the ladies.

All is well in our camp. We are continuing our research for a satellite solution. We are also looking for a church and have found a couple that we are considering. Not sure just yet which one we will attend on Easter; The Ridge Community Church or Highland Tabernacle.

 Thanks for stoping by.

  1. Happy Birthday to Carol. We workamped in Branson last Summer -- now there is a lot of work to rebuild after the tornado came thru there last month. Glad you are enjoying the area!
